Animated Movies was launched by Olivier Mouroux in 1999. In addition to a daily news report, he also created a database of information about past, current, and upcoming films. In 2003, he took a job in the industry and had to give up his work on the site. Several fans of Animated Movies decided to take on the task of keeping the news portion of his site going, and founded what is now Animated Views. As AV turns 15, let's take a look back at the site we descended from. Below you can explore the database Olivier compiled at Animated Movies during its existence, as it last appeared online in October 2003. |

A rainforest is an area of land covered by layers of lush green plants and trees. More species of animals and more kind of plants can be found in a rainforest than anywhere else in the world -and some can only be found there, and could not survive out of a rainforest. All the plants help to control the world's climate by absorbing the carbon dioxide in the air. The trees in the rainforest can grow as high as a 17-story building. It takes 40 gallons of water to grow one pound of leaves in a rainforest -that is why it rains at least 80 inches of rain a year in the forest! Even when it's not raining, trees drip water. There are about 2,100 plants known in the rainforest that have cancer fighting properties.
This delightful movie, rich from an impressive voice cast, great songs, a flawless animation and strong plot, only received a handful low-profile awards and flopped at the box-office -go figure!
A sequel was released directly to video in March 1998, and surprisingly
garnered 4 nominations at the Annie Awards (designed to honor lifetime
achievements in the field of animation). In this animated musical,
Batty, Crysta, Pips and the Beetle Boys return on a rescue mission to battle
human poachers who have stolen baby animals from the forest.
