Animated Movies was launched by Olivier Mouroux in 1999. In addition to a daily news report, he also created a database of information about past, current, and upcoming films. In 2003, he took a job in the industry and had to give up his work on the site. Several fans of Animated Movies decided to take on the task of keeping the news portion of his site going, and founded what is now Animated Views. As AV turns 15, let's take a look back at the site we descended from. Below you can explore the database Olivier compiled at Animated Movies during its existence, as it last appeared online in October 2003. |

Fun and Fancy Free features two stories: "Mickey and the Beanstalk", in which Mickey, Donald and Goofy climb a beanstalk to rescue the singing harp from a giant to restore happiness in their Happy Valley -this segment is interspersed with live-action clips of Edgar Bergen and his pals Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd; and "Bongo The Bear", in which a circus bear, meets and falls in love with a girl bear named Lulbelle. But first he must confront a bear rival, Lumpjaw, whose looks match his name, before he wins her..
This is Walt Disney's ninth full-length animated classic; it is also the last animated feature starring Walt Disney as the voice of Mickey Mouse, and the only film featuring all four of Walt Disney's most famous characters -Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Jiminy Cricket!
The opening song by Jiminy, "I'm a Happy Go Lucky Fellow," was originally written and recorded for "Pinocchio".
In the 1960s, Disney animated new introductory material of Ludwig Von Drake and his pet, Herman, to replace Edgar Bergen when the "Beanstalk" segment was run on Disney's television show.
This film was rereleased on video in 1982, 1989 and 1997, and on
DVD in 2000.
