![]() | Animated Movies was launched by Olivier Mouroux in 1999. In addition to a daily news report, he also created a database of information about past, current, and upcoming films. In 2003, he took a job in the industry and had to give up his work on the site. Several fans of Animated Movies decided to take on the task of keeping the news portion of his site going, and founded what is now Animated Views. As AV turns 15, let's take a look back at the site we descended from. Below you can explore the database Olivier compiled at Animated Movies during its existence, as it last appeared online in October 2003. |

Saludos Amigos,
Disney's sixth full-length animated film, is a blend of live-action and
animation, composed of four segments, in which Donald encounters a stubborn
llama ("Lake Titicaca", "Pedro"), Goofy tries on the cowboy way of life
-South American style- ( "El Gaucho Goofy") and Jose Carioca teaches Donald
Duck to dance the samba ( "Aquarela Do Brasil").
18 artists, musicians,
and writers followed Walt Disney to Latin America to learn about the culture
for this film: their trip included The Andres, Chile, Buenos Aires and
Rio de Janeiro. The end credits include a note from Walt Disney:
"With Sincere Appreciation For The Courtesy and Cooperation Shown Us By
The Artists, Musicians and Our Many Friends in Latin America."
The scene where
Goofy is seen smoking a cigarette and blowing smoke rings was removed from
the 2000 DVD release.
Saludos Amigos
was nominated for Best Score, Best Sound and Best Song ("Saludos Amigos")
at the 1944 Academy Awards.
