The Studio was almost ready to return to "true" feature animation -the last release was Bambi 7 years earlier and the studio was still recuperating from the effects of the War. This film was technically a package film, but consisted of just 2 longish featurettes -its original title was "Two Fabulous Characters".
The two stories have been released separately on video as "Wind in the Willows" (75 minutes) and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" (49 minutes). They were released on video as a feature film for their 50th anniversary, in 1999.
This movie fell short of being a great movie, but it was a significant
step towards regaining past glories. It won the 1950 Golden Globe
for Best Cinematography.
