Animated Movies was launched by Olivier Mouroux in 1999. In addition to a daily news report, he also created a database of information about past, current, and upcoming films. In 2003, he took a job in the industry and had to give up his work on the site. Several fans of Animated Movies decided to take on the task of keeping the news portion of his site going, and founded what is now Animated Views. As AV turns 15, let's take a look back at the site we descended from. Below you can explore the database Olivier compiled at Animated Movies during its existence, as it last appeared online in October 2003. |

Director David Michener was an animator on Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day (1968) and worked on story sequences for Robin Hood (1973); he then had writer's credits on The Rescuers (1977), The Fox and the Hound (1981) as well as The Great Mouse Detective (1986), which he also co-directed. Charles Governor's helming achievements were less impressive, since the core of his body of work is the direct-to-video sequels The Land Before Time VI: The Secret of Saurus Rock (1998) and The Land Before Time V: The Mysterious Island (1997).
British singer and actor Michael Crawford was born in January 1942, 6 months after his father was killed in action during WWII. His mother, Doris O'Keefe, died before he turned 21, and he was closest to his grandmother, Edith Kathleen O'Keefe who lived to be 99. Michael Crawford won an Olivier Award in the early 1980s for his portrayal of the title role in the hit musical Barnum, and a 1988 Tony for Best Actor in a Musical for "Phantom of the Opera." He is most famous for his role as Cornelius Hackl in Gene Kelly's Hello, Dolly! (1970) -which his character in Once Upon A Forest was named after.
Once Upon a Forest is about a group of "furlings" who must
set out on their own to help a sick friend who is hurt when a truck of
chlorine gas poisons their meadow. It was released in June of 1993
and did mediocre box office after lukewarm reviews by critics. However,
its video sales were quite good, and it managed to stay in the top 10 for
several months.
